I like to take photographs outside on my deck for the most part - indirect sunlight. For photos that show the actual quilting - side lighting with no flash - these I usually take while the quilt is still on the machine. Sometimes when I finish something at night, I'll take one inside in the living room but those never turn out as well. The last time I needed a full photo of a quilt - I had Keith hold it up on the deck.
I really liked the photo you took on the string quilt on your deck. I started adding the chair when we were in the apartment and I had such a small deck that I couldn't get it out of the photo and then the flowers when we moved here to the townhouse. I've been looking for a small potted tree to put out there this winter so I'll have a plant to include in my quilt photos. Keith just laughs at me!
