A friend told me our bear picture from Yellowstone just didn't look like a regular black bear (as if a bear is "regular", ha). I had assumed because he was black, he was a black bear.
So I did a little research and now I believe he was a black grizzly bear.
He definitely has the hump on his shoulders.
His ears are more pointy than the rounded ears of a black bear. And his face is less pointy than the faces of black bears. And of course, his size...he was huge. Then when I read that grizzlies can be brown, reddish, or black, well....I think our guy was a grizzly!
