Life happens. My 86 year old mom fell yesterday and broke her leg. She had surgery last night and has a long plate from her hip to her knee. She has been very, very unstable walking for quite a while now and I think this is her third break out of 4-5 falls in the last few years. Hip, ankle, now femur. The future is a little bleak but it is part of life for all of us if we live that long. She did really well with the surgery, better than with the others. Recovery will be hard. An assisted living facility or nursing home is probably in her future. She says she is fine with being on this side or the other.
After a hospital visit I came home to get busy. Working with my hands or running helps me deal with the stresses of life. I made a few more remembrance quilt blocks...
We love homemade chicken pot pie......I forgot to add a bit of fresh rosemary.....it was still yummy though.....
So sorry to hear about your mom's fall. Hope she will have a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteWishing a comforting recovery to your mom. Love the colors of your quilt blocks. Your pot pie is adorable with the dough leaves!
ReplyDeleteRachel! After losing my blog list long ago, I found your blog...just in time to hear of your mother's fall. As the 'parent' of an active 83 year old, I will add you to my prayer list. I always say I am blessed to have my mother still with me so that at age 63, someone will still tell me that I am doing everything wrong, lol.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you are still running and quilting, as am I!
God bless you,
Jan
Thank you Susan, Kathy, and Jan. She is doing really well and will move to the rehab facility tomorrow.
ReplyDeletePutting your Mom on my prayer list and hoping for a speedy recovery. Two months ago my Dad suffered a stroke and on Friday we had to decide as a family (on the advice of the physician) to place him in a nursing home. Just remember to look after yourself.
